Marlon grew up in disadvantaged communiity of Ocean view, near cape town. he joined izivunguvungu and became a very successful sailor in south africa. he has won the 420 nationals 3 times. he has also competed in europe and the UK, for example being on the winning boat in cowes week in the J109 class as well as coming 2nd in the SB20 UK nationals. He is currently a sailing instructor for offhsore sailing. he spends a lot of time sailing up and down the wild coastline between cape town and durban with his students.
